If you only knew what it's like in my world...

I have been asked what it's like to live in my world at times...I'm not quite sure why, but now I guess you can know. FYI - my world consists of Jason, my darling husband, Lucas, the apple of my eye, Jader the wonder-dog and various other characters that make my world worth living in...

Can we have some dad?

On the move!

He's trying to figure the crawling thing out. After he does this, he lays back down but goes back. Today, he scooted all the way around the back of a chair and then straight into the living room...backwards! I'm so proud.

Jader, enjoying the Arizona sun and dreaming of Grandpa Narney.

Jordyn and Garret were over one morning, and while playing together, Lucas decided to take Jordyn's glasses off of her. So, she put them on him!

I was sitting on the loveseat that would be to Luke's left (your right) and I couldn't find him. I craned my neck around a little bit to find that he scooted under this chair.

So, you're probably wondering why there is a picture of cartoon characters here. Here goes...so, you know that my mornings are consumed with children's television. First we watch Sesame Street at 8:00 and the Little Einsteins (above) at 9:00. When Jason is home on his days off he just sits and shakes his head at me as I know all of the words to the theme song of Little Einsteins ("We're going on a trip in our favorite rocket ship, zooming through the skies, Little Einsteins!")and also any song that they sing during the show ("We're on our way, the mission of the day starts when we say rocket - ROCKET!")Now, the explanation: I love this little show. Why, you ask? Because it reminds me of my childhood. Here are four little kids, that when you listen to their banter, totally sounds like my brother, myself and an array of our cousins at different points in time. One combination that it totally reminds me of is Marco, me, Dan and Abby. If you ever get a chance to watch this show (Disney Channel), listen to the way these little people talk, it sounds like a tape that we made once, right down to the way Quincy says "I cannnot beeelieeve it!" just how Dan did. I just like to watch this show and imagine playing with my cousins and it just makes me feel all happy and stuff. Now you can all make fun of me, but that's what it's like to live in my world!
P.S. To hear these things, go to www.playhousedisney.com and click on Little Einsteins. Then go to watch a clip and see "Theme Song" and "We've got a Mission."

Mom, are we done shopping yet? If not, I'll just take a nap...typical man!

Luke is getting really good at sitting up by himself. If you notice all of the pillows around him though, you will guess that he doesn't stay that way forever. He eventually wiggles his way down to his tummy and then is all over the place. He scoots backwards, and when he does go forwards, it's only if he puts his head down and pushes off. Quite funny!

Who's got the bigger belly?

Can you guess?

Can you guess what Lucas is doing here? It's even funnier when he doesn't have his pacifier in! He's going to hate me for this when he gets older...but that's what mom's are for, right?

Bowling as a job

We went bowling tonight. I have signed up as a secret shopper and tonight was my first assignment. We went to the bowling alley and bowled 2 games. I actaully did pretty well. I almost beat Jason on the first game! And actually my first game score beat his second game score!!!!! (122 me, 121 Jae). Lucas didn't bowl, he just watched. Either way, it was kinda fun, even if I'm only getting paid $8 to do it...plus reimbursment for the game and shoes.

We went to the Grand Canyon the last weekend in February with our friend Rob. Here are some pictures. We also went to the Meteor Crater (bottom picture). That was pretty cool too! Did anyone else really realize the the Grand Canyon is actually in Arizona? I thought it was in Colorado (hence why the Colorado River runs through it!) Anyway, it was beautiful and we had a good time.

Dinner anyone?

I finally have filed my taxes! I did them by myself (for the most part) for the first time! It was pretty cool! Thanks for your help if you helped me! Lucas helped at the end. He sat with me as I agonized about things. Anyway, we had kind of a non eventful weekend. Jason and I went to dinner with Luke on Firday night. We started out going to Olive Garden and then Jae realized that he forgot his phone. So we headed back to the house to get it. On the way we stopped at the store to get food for Luke to eat for dinner. After talking to the lady behind me in line for 5 minutes about what to give up for lent, I forgot the bag of food at the checkout line. So we go to leave and I realize this just as the bag boy is running after us trying to give us the bag back. On the way back tot he house to get the phone we are trying to decide if we really want to go to Olive Garden or not. By this time it is about 7:30. So we say yeah, we'll go to Olive Garden. When we finally get there the line is really long and we dicide to go to Red Robin instead. Lucas has become disinterested in eating by this point and has fallen asleep with the last thing he ate being a bottle at about 3:00. He slept through our whole dinner and didn't wake up until we got to the car. Luckily, he still wasn't too upset about not having ate in over 5 hours. Other than that, a pretty uneventful weekend.

Like Father, Like Son

For those of you who know Jason pretty well, he is in love with his robe. Unfortunately it's in Ohio right now. He is really jealous of Lucas. This was my two day sewing project. It started out as a bunting sack (remember the snaps I was talking about?) Well, Luke didn't like that, so I improvised and VOILA! a robe. It will fit him for awhile as you can see, and I think he likes it as much as daddy likes his own...lets just hope that he keeps clothes on underneath his (unlike daddy)!

Applesauce?

So I'm making lunch for Lucas, broccoli and apples, not together though. I use this amazing thing called "The Magic Bullet." It's awesome. I can make one serving of babyfood in this thing at a time. So, I make the broccoli and put it in a dish. I rinse out the cup and the blade to chop. I put the apples and water in the cup and put the blade lid back on. I set the microwave for 2 minutes, no big deal right? The micro beeps and then a 5 second pause and...KABOOM! I put the wrong lid on the apples! I had apples everywhere. Nothing happened to the microwave (thank goodness) or to the cup and blade (thank goodness). Before all of this is happening, Lucas is throwing a fit because he's hungry and sees me making food, so I start singing a silly song. In the midst of the silly song is when I had a brain fart and didn't put the steamer/shaker lid on. What a moron! And then after this all happens, Lucas is fine and laughing. Figures.

Goodbye dear Sergeant

So, here is Phoenix, not only do we live with Mama and Papa Nicks, but also with two marine habitats most affectionately referred to as "The Fish," consisting of (in tank 1) a clown fish and two "Dory" fish (see Finding Nemo) and also a few snails and Guido the crab; and (in tank 2)a Tang fish (see again Nemo and the fish with bubbles) 2 sergeant major fish, a cleaner shrimp, one known as "Batman," some more snails, a crab, and a starfish.
Lately we have noticed that one of the sergeant fish has been fighting for his life. It all started last week, not more than a week since their main care givers left. The two SM fish were chasing each other around the tank...alot. Well, all of a sudden, the one SM decided to lay on the floor of the tank in a little house and really freaked me out. I like fish and all, but the death of a fish has always been somewhat traumatic for me. In the 8th grade I wrote a poem about how I had killed my two goldfish. Anyway, after precariously picking up the house with some tongs, the fish was still alive. Well, we watched this poor fish suffer for a little more than a week. Yesterday, things seemed to be looking up! I had hopes that SM might recover, he was actually doing laps around the tank! Then I noticed that his quite alive counterpart was actually eating him alive!!!! So at that point I knew it wouldn't be long. This morning, upon turning on the tank light, I discovered SM laying on the floor, not in his usual spot, and with a crab crawling across him. Luckily Jason was home to give him the Big Tuna Salute to the Water Treatment Plant in the Sky. Good old Sergeant fish, we'll miss you! Let's hope we have no more casualties before the 'rents come home.

Day one

So, I've decided to start this whole thing because a.) I'm not tired yet and I wanted something to do, 2.) I've read some other ones and it seems like an easy way to alert people of happenings, and lastly because I think it will give me some much needed adult conversation that Jason doesn't really cut it for sometimes. I guess this will prevent me from leaving novela sized e-mails for people about, for example, baby registry's (sorry Monika). Anyway...

Nothing too exciting happening today. Pretty much like any other day...wake up around 7:45, get Lucas breakfast while watching Sesame Street, after SS is over move Lucas to another room to watch more cartoons until he takes a nap. Then I take a shower and do whatever else I can get done while he's sleeping, be it clean-phone calls-computer, whatever. Then it's time to think about lunch for Luke. You see the pattern. Jason comes home sometime after lunch depending on when he left for work in the morning and the rest of my day is pretty uneventful from there.

Today was the day after Luke got shots so he was not a happy camper today. Luckily for Jason, Lucas was pretty content in his arms...not so much for me. I did get to sew a little today though, I just need to try to figure out how to sew snaps...it's more difficult than it would seem.

On a happy note - Lucas is babbling a lot lately and the one I'm particularly fond of is "mum-mum-mum-mum-mum!" Unfortunately, I don't really think he knows what he's saying, but at least I can hope!
